This therapy specializes in treating musculoskeletal related disorders through hands-on techniques. This approach is holistic, focusing on the interrelationship between the body's structure and function. Meaning - how things are put together are how they function (think of the mechanics of a car - structure determines function).
Some Key elements of a manual osteopathic practitioner's role:
1.) Holistic Assessment: Conduction of comprehensive evaluations, considering the clients medical history, lifestyle and overall health to understand the root causes of discomfort or the dysfunction.
2.) Manual Techniques: We use a variety of hands-on techniques to manipulate the soft tissue. Joint mobilizations, myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, visceral manipulation.
3.) Whole-Body Approach: We view the body as an integrated unit to aim to restore balance and optimal function across all systems, addressing structural imbalances that may impact overall health.
4.) Personalized care: Treatment plans are customized to each individual's needs, often incorporating lifestyle and ergonomic advice, exercise programs to help recovery and overall wellbeing.
5.) Focus on Prevention: We emphasize preventative care and educating patients on maintaining health, aiming to prevent the recurrence of issues and promoting long-term wellness.
6.) Collaboration With Other Health Professionals: We often work in conjunction with other healthcare providers including physicians, physiotherapists, and chiropractors to ensure a comprehensive approach to client care.

Registered Massage Therapy -
This is a Therapeutic Massage, designed to alleviate pain, reduce stress and promote overall wellness. It involves various techniques to manipulate the soft tissues of the body, including muscles, connective tissues (such as fascial tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints).

Some key elements typically included in a therapeutic massage:

1.) Assessment: This is at the beginning of the session where there is a discussion of the health history form that was completed before the appointment. Any previous history with illness, injury. Goals for the treatment are discussed. Then there may be a series of tests I will perform that may include asking you to move in certain ways so I am able to see how you are moving. Either just one joint or muscle at a time - or a series together. This will help me get an idea of what may be going on. (If I deem this is appropriate after our initial intake)
2.) Customized Approach: The aim is to tailor the massage to address specific health concerns to the individual's needs, whether it's to relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, or enhance flexibility. Or even for overall relaxation.
3.) Techniques: Common techniques used include the traditional Swedish Massage techniques, deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myo-fascial release, Range of motion, stretching. I also use techniques for TMJ (intra oral jaw work), Acupressure, facilitated muscle energy (working with the neurology to help lengthen muscle tissue - stretching)
4.) Health Benefits: The massage can help reduce chronic pain, decrease stress and anxiety, improve postural dysfunction, increase range of motion and promote relaxation.
